Nazarene ministry in Bethlehem

Bethlehem First Church of the Nazarene, established in 1936, currently worships in a church building built in 1948 located at 1500 Linden St in Bethlehem PA. A traditional large brick steeple roof building with gorgeous stained glass throughout the sanctuary. The church bells still chime throughout the neighborhood. In 1976, the addition of a small gymnasium, kitchen and classrooms were built to support recreation for the members and for community engagement. The church member list grew from 56 members in 1936 to over 200 in the 1970’s and has been a thriving part of the community which also includes Liberty High School, Moravian College, St Anne’s Catholic church and The Bethlehem Dairy Store (The Cup) still bustling nearby. Current membership is below 50 members today but continues to be blessed with ministry through traditional Sunday worship service, weekly bible study, prayer meetings and outreach ministry. Led by a single dedicated pastor, all activities and church business are otherwise accomplished by volunteers.

We are focused on you, our neighbors, with a determination to serve you with ministry that is relevant and needed in this very time and place, because God has created us to serve and equipped us to be of use to build the Kingdom.

We are a congregation. One you are invited to be a part of. We also have been blessed with a facility. A people, not just a place.

Any church that has been planted for the purpose of the ministry of Jesus Christ should be purposed for the ministry that was demonstrated by our Lord. He fed the hungry masses, healed the sick, forgave sins, lifted up the poor. He adored the children and blessed them. Widows and orphans were respected and even honored in a time where women and children had no rights. His ministry was living water to the thirsty. Hands and feet, prayer and action, tireless work to bring comfort and good news to humble people who were suffering. Our purpose remains in the will of Our Lord Jesus Christ, to continue the commission of His disciples. We will make use of God’s blessings in service to our community. To go and make disciples, by doing what we have been shown to do. By loving our community through meaningful service and sharing in the hope that we have in our Lord.

Please join us in worship, study, prayer and service.
